

About Jasper
Jasper De Roeck is a Belgian double bass player and composer. He started playing double bass and jazz music at the age of 17. After a preparatory year with his classical double bass teacher Ben Faes, he began his studies at the Antwerp Conservatory in 2015, where he studied with, Piet Verbist, Nic Thys, Jos Machtel, Nathan Wouters, and Kurt Van Herck.
In September 2019, Jasper moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music. There, he took lessons with Dave Holland, Jasper Høiby, Kit Downes, Anders Jormin, Nick Smart, Pete Churchill, and many other musicians from the UK jazz scene. In August 2022, he shared the stage at Jazz Middelheim with Jakob Bro through a collaboration with the Antwerp Conservatory.
Jasper is active in various jazz ensembles, including Serendip Quartet, with which he won the Sabam For Culture award in 2019; Mitingu, an international quartet that released its first album in Miami in 2019; the Lieven Cambré Quartet, MJO, YENTL, and Yes Pavlov!, with their latest release in 2025.
He is also the bassist for the emerging pop project Oona Maeve, with new releases such as Southern Breeze, currently in the PlayRight Top 100. Jasper is further active as a classical double bassist with the Brussels-based Zelig Art Ensemble.
Alongside performing, Jasper also teaches at the music academies of Hemiksem and Borgerhout, as well as at the Kunsthumaniora “Start Muziek” in Turnhout.
